I have always been interested in other people's fine art, but did not think that I would ever be an artist myself. A twist in life found my husband and I doing shift work in Kalgoorlie (WA) and the loneliness drew me to attend an evening art class at the Curtin University. Life drawing and watercolour were among the many skills learned until just before we left to come home to New Zealand, I was introduced to pastel as a painting medium. I was totally hooked and they have been my passion ever since.
We arrived home in 2002. In 2004 I joined Pastel Artists of New Zealand (PANZ). In 2005 I became a member of the National Committee and also started an active weekly group of pastellists here in the Nelson Area. In 2017 I was honoured with a PANZ Life Membership and in 2019 was awarded the status of "Artist" member. I have entered numerous Exhibitions with successful results, staged a joint Exhibition with two other pastel artists and an article in a National magazine. Having retired from "office" I now intend to concentrate on my own paintings.
